Anita Longan has more than 25 years experience in nutrition counseling, focusing on diabetes self-management and prevention. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Diabetes Educator and is Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. Anita is also a certified lifestyle coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program.
In her career, she has helped to achieve accreditation for two medical center diabetes education programs and most recently built a program for a federally qualified community health center.
Anita believes that food is medicinal fuel. She helps individuals and groups learn how to balance physical activity and real food, in appropriate portions, to manage weight and chronic health conditions. She specializes in teaching advanced carbohydrate counting to those managing their diabetes with insulin pumps or multiple daily insulin injections.
A passionate believer in organic and sustainable farming, and knowing your food sources, she regularly consults with organic farmers and producers to fully understand where food is coming from and and how locally and organically produced food helps improve over all nutrition, for individuals and their communities.
Anita is a frequent consultant to medical professionals, community groups and educational facilities. She brings a friendly and relatable approach to nutrition and lifestyle counseling, offering insight to people from all walks of life.
Kitty Finklea has many years of experience in nutrition counseling, with an emphasis on weight management, diabetes, sports nutrition and eating disorders. Kitty is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Personal Trainer with AFAA – the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and is also a Certified Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program.
Kitty has worked in hospitals, long-term care facilities, physician clinics and fitness centers helping individuals and families achieve their nutrition and health goals. She has developed and written education materials for an ongoing weight management program at a hospital based fitness facility. She has also developed content and coached adults and teens with an innovative online group coaching program.
Loving all things nutrition, Kitty teaches an online nutrition course at a local community college and writes a monthly food column for the area newspaper. Her focus is on a non-diet, whole foods approach, with an emphasis on intuitive eating and listening to the body’s natural cues of hunger and fullness. She also has fun trying out new recipes and learning about culinary and medicinal herbs.
As a personal trainer she emphasizes an active lifestyle in whatever way is possible for each individuals’ unique needs.
